Speedtest ExpressVPN

ExpressVPN logo

In this article we are going to do a speedtest with ExpressVPN. We used a XPS15 Dell laptop with a maximum internet speed of 100 Mbit down and 100 Mbit upload speed.

Here you can find the results with a single VPN connection, so we are not using multihop. The tests are performed from the Netherlands. So locations like USA, Brazil, Canada and Japan are more then 9000 Km away. The closest servers will always give the fastest results.

ExpressVPN delivers extreme high speeds. In our results NordVPN is a little bit faster, but it is not much. You can see that ExpessVPN scores very consitent around the world, which is very impressive. ExpressVPN offers the most locations around the world and is a top VPN provider also because the very broad range of services they provide with torrenting, streaming and unblock censorship in specific countries.

The use of a VPN will have a negative impact on your internet performance in general. However Internet Service Providers (ISPs) will reduce internet speeds with certain portocols. Some of these protocols are Torrenting, streaming of movies and FTP. In general ExpressVPN will reduce your speed by +- 12%, which is a very good score. But all of this depends on the location you are connected to and how far you are from this location. The further you are from a location the more latency you get, see the ping results above, and the more time it takes to send packets from source to destination.
